About the Mitutoyo UMAP Vision System

The UMAP (Ultrasonic Micro and Accurate Probe) Vision System was built around a unique dual-mode measuring principle: a super-fine stylus probe for high-accuracy contact measurement of micro-scale features, combined with a conventional vision probe for non-contact measurement — letting one machine handle both extremely fine contour work and general 2D dimensional inspection.

Mitutoyo has since introduced the MiSCAN Vision System as the successor platform, offering improved productivity for micro-form measurement. Surviving UMAP units remain valued by shops with an existing UMAP programming/tooling investment or a specific need for its micro-stylus contact probing.
