About the Nikon Measurescope MM-40
The Measurescope MM-40 belongs to Nikon's classic line of optical measuring microscopes — instruments that combine a precision X-Y measuring stage with a high-magnification microscope optic, used for measuring very small features (fine threads, small bores, tool edges) that are difficult to capture with a standard vision system's camera field of view.
Nikon's current measuring-microscope offering is the MM-400N/MM-800N series, which operates on a digital control system. Surviving MM-40 units remain in service in many labs and tool rooms, and are commonly sourced secondhand once retired from primary production use.
