Geonics EM61-MK2
Cart-mounted time-domain EM metal detector purpose-built for detecting buried ferrous and non-ferrous metal, including unexploded ordnance.
New Refurbished Absolute Certified Surplus
About the Geonics EM61-MK2
Unlike the frequency-domain EM31/EM34/EM38 conductivity meters, the EM61-MK2 is a time-domain (pulsed) EM system optimized specifically for metal detection rather than bulk ground conductivity mapping. It transmits a primary field pulse and measures the decaying secondary field induced in nearby metallic objects across multiple time gates, which helps discriminate target size and depth.
It is cart-mounted for wheeled survey over open ground, typically paired with a GPS or total-station positioning system and a data logger, and is one of the most widely used instruments for unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance and buried-utility/drum detection surveys.
