IRIS Instruments Syscal R2
The Syscal R2 was IRIS Instruments' high-power resistivity and IP system for deep investigations, drawing on an external 250 W DC/DC converter (12 V battery) or 1200 W AC/DC converter (motor generator) for high-current injection where standard battery-powered receivers run out of depth.

About the IRIS Instruments Syscal R2
The Syscal R2 was designed as a high-power sibling to IRIS's standard Syscal receivers, built for deep resistivity and induced-polarization investigations that require more current injection than a battery-powered transmitter alone can deliver. It draws on an external DC source — either a 250 W DC/DC converter run from a 12 V battery, or a 1200 W AC/DC converter run from a standard motor generator — combining rugged field performance with the accuracy expected of the Syscal line.
Now discontinued, the R2's high-power architecture made it a specialist choice for deep groundwater, mineral-exploration, and large-array surveys where depth of investigation outweighed portability. Working units remain in demand among survey companies needing high-current capability at a lower cost than a current-generation system.
