GF Instruments ARES
The original ARES was GF Instruments' traditional single-channel resistivity and IP system, integrating transmitter, receiver, and control unit in one ruggedized weatherproof housing and supporting up to 200 electrodes in a single array — the direct predecessor to today's multi-channel ARES II.

About the GF Instruments ARES
The original ARES (Automatic Resistivity System) was GF Instruments' single-channel resistivity and IP instrument, combining transmitter, receiver, and control electronics into one integrated, weatherproof field unit — equipped with a range of smart, economical accessories and capable of running arrays across up to 200 electrodes. It supported the full range of standard applications: groundwater exploration, geotechnical investigation, dam and dike monitoring, environmental studies, mineral prospecting, archaeology, and cavity detection.
GF Instruments has since superseded it with the multi-channel ARES II, a 10-channel system built for larger 2D/3D surveys with up to 65,000 electrodes. The original single-channel ARES is now discontinued, but remains a capable, lower-cost entry point for smaller resistivity surveys that don't need ARES II's multi-channel throughput.
