ABEM (Guideline Geo) WalkTEM 2
ABEM's portable transient electromagnetic (TEM) system for mapping resistivity layering from near-surface to several hundred metres depth — widely used in groundwater and geological investigations.
New Refurbished Absolute Certified Surplus
About the ABEM (Guideline Geo) WalkTEM 2
WalkTEM 2 transmits current through a surface loop, switches it off and records the decaying secondary field on receiver coils. The decay curve is inverted into a resistivity-versus-depth model, giving 1D soundings that can be combined into 2D sections. Because it needs no galvanic electrode contact, TEM works well on dry or resistive surfaces and reaches depths that are impractical with ERT cable spreads.
Typical applications are aquifer mapping, saltwater intrusion studies, clay-cap and bedrock mapping, and geothermal and mineral reconnaissance. WalkTEM 2 succeeded the original WalkTEM.
