Geometrics SmartSeis SE Seismograph
The SmartSeis SE was an earlier-generation self-contained field seismograph from Geometrics, offered in 12- or 24-channel configurations with a built-in four-inch thermal printer for immediate field printouts — a hallmark of the pre-digital-storage generation of engineering seismographs.
This model has been discontinued by the manufacturer. PartnerGeometrics sources it through the used and refurbished market — available as Refurbished, Absolute Certified, or Surplus only.

About the Geometrics SmartSeis SE Seismograph
The SmartSeis SE combined 12 or 24 channels of seismic acquisition with sample intervals from 31 µs to 2000 µs, record lengths up to 24,000 samples per channel, and a built-in four-inch (11 cm) thermal printer for immediate field record printouts — a design that predates the digital storage and PC-connected data flow standard on Geometrics' current Geode and StrataVisor lines.
PartnerGeometrics sources SmartSeis SE units through the secondhand market. It remains functional for basic shallow-refraction and engineering survey work, and is often used as a low-cost teaching seismograph for university geophysics field courses.
