Scintrex CG-3M Autograv

Introduced in 1990 as the refined successor to the original CG-3, with an improved fused-quartz sensor delivering roughly 1 µGal resolution — for over a decade the workhorse relative gravimeter of choice for exploration and monitoring surveys.

This model has been discontinued by the manufacturer. PartnerGeometrics sources it through the used and refurbished market — available as Refurbished, Absolute Certified, or Surplus only.

About the Scintrex CG-3M Autograv

The CG-3M refined the original CG-3's microprocessor-controlled fused-quartz sensor to roughly 1 µGal reading resolution, making it capable of both discrete field survey work and continuous cycling-mode recording for monitoring applications such as volcanic and reservoir gravity change studies. It remained in active production and widespread field use through the 1990s and into the 2000s before Scintrex introduced the CG-5.

Because CG-3M units were built to a robust, largely mechanical-plus-electronics design with few consumable parts, well-maintained examples continue to perform close to original specification decades after manufacture, making the model a genuine option in Refurbished or Absolute Certified condition rather than a collector's curiosity.
