About the Starrett Crystal Pink Granite Surface Plate — Grade AA
Grade AA (0.000025"/6" tolerance) is Starrett's laboratory-grade flatness specification, intended for primary reference standards and the most demanding inspection work rather than everyday shop use. Crystal Pink granite is selected for its fine, consistent grain structure and resistance to wear.
Calibration labs typically reserve a Grade AA plate as their master reference, using it to periodically re-verify Grade A and B plates elsewhere in the facility.
