The 505 series represents Mitutoyo's classic mechanical dial caliper line, reading via a geared dial mechanism rather than a digital display — no battery required, valued by users who prefer a purely mechanical instrument.
As Mitutoyo's Digimatic (ABSOLUTE-encoder digital) caliper range became the standard shop-floor choice, older dial caliper models in the 505 series were discontinued from current production.
