About the Mitutoyo Mu-Checker 519-412
The Mu-Checker range is Mitutoyo's family of electronic length comparators, part of the Series 519, designed for very high-sensitivity dimensional comparison against a gauge block or master. The 519-412 (also seen labeled M412) uses an electronic transducer probe mounted on a rigid comparator stand to detect minute deviations from a set reference — used for high-precision go/no-go style verification and gauge calibration work.
Earlier Mu-Checker models like the 519-412 have been superseded by Mitutoyo's current digital comparator and indicator ranges, and are no longer in production. They remain in active use and in circulation on the secondhand instrument market, valued for their build quality and for compatibility with existing calibration-lab fixtures and workflows already built around this comparator body style.
