ALT FAC40 (Facsimile 40)
ALT's original slimhole acoustic televiewer, built on rights acquired to TNO's early digital ATV sensor design — the direct predecessor to today's ABI40.
Refurbished Absolute Certified Surplus
This model has been discontinued by the manufacturer. PartnerGeometrics sources it through the used and refurbished market — available as Refurbished, Absolute Certified, or Surplus only.
About the ALT FAC40 (Facsimile 40)
The FAC40 traces back to TNO's early digital acoustic televiewer sensor developed in Belgium for petroleum and Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) use. ALT, founded in 1993, obtained rights to that slimhole sensor design and brought it to market as the Facsimile 40 — the company's first acoustic borehole imager, producing amplitude and travel-time images of the borehole wall for fracture and structural analysis.
ALT went on to develop its own higher-resolution sensor head and downhole processor for the next generation of the tool, released as the ABI40 — the first acoustic televiewer of its kind usable for ultrasonic casing inspection as well as open-hole imaging. The FAC40 itself is long discontinued; where a legacy FAC40-based logging program or spare unit is needed, it is now available only through the used equipment market.
